We should really listen to our children sometimes.

Nearly 2/3 of teenagers support raising the age to buy cigarettes to age 21. Most of the research around tobacco is with adults, perhaps we should look at our children and see what we can do to influence their decision to smoke in the first place. I think this study is pretty interesting…how often have you had a teenager ask for any restrictions?  And don’t forget the research that says that teenagers are far more likely to become addicted to cigarettes the younger they start smoking.  The report says there could be significant public health benefits.  They expect 249,000 fewer premature deaths and 45,000 fewer lung cancers. Wow!

Current cigarette smokers weren’t in favor of changing the buying age…but that’s no surprise…they’re already hooked!
