My passion to serve others started at an early age with my grandfather being a physician and my mom being a nurse. My grandfather was the doctor of the city! He invested his time with his patients, family, and friends. His excellent care paved the wave for my foundation today…. which includes walking on hot coals, thanks grandpa!
I played club soccer growing up and was on my high school varsity team. I even had the pleasure to coach my little sister and enjoyed watching both sisters play the game I love. In high school, I joined Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA) to learn more about healthcare. Like many, I changed my major in college a few times. I considered a biology major, being a pharmacist, and even a crime scene investigator (I sure love CSI). I was relieved when I committed to following in my mom’s footsteps and became a nurse. I knew I wanted to be in pediatrics because I used to love babysitting and helping out with my younger sisters.
I went to Texas Tech University for my undergraduate and graduate degree. I started out my career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse and loved the relationships I made with the parents, and being able to be there for their newborn.
I have been married to my husband since 2009 and we love watching movies and binge watching shows together. That is, when we are not playing with our four boys (we have twins) and our Aussie, Pearl. Our home is filled with rough and tumble, slime, and sports. We also love to grill out with friends and make s’more’s around our fire pit.
Having four boys has included many trips to the doctor. We advocate for our boys alongside our pediatrician and we always received the guidance we needed. This is what lead to my career change as a nurse practitioner. I chose to become a nurse practitioner to offer patients and their families the same guidance, advocacy, and individualized care that works for the whole family. I am excited for the opportunity to grow with Kids First Pediatrics and provide excellent care to patients and their families!
