With summer wrapping up and school starting, kids can have a hard time adjusting to the new schedules. Some kids thrive on a schedule, while others truly enjoy the freedom of summer. Either way, it’s important to get your child’s sleep back on a routine. Sleep is very important to your child’s mood and focus! So NOW is the time to start moving bed-times up and wake times earlier. It’s best to do this gradually if possible and not abruptly. We recommend moving bedtime up by 15-30 min at a time, same thing goes with waking up. So think about what their schedule will need to be for school and start adjusting their bedtime routines. Studies have also shown better sleep with unplugging from screens/technology an hour before bed. We recommend not having cell-phones, IPads, TV’s or computers in your child’s room.
