Weaning from Breast feeding

Many mothers choose to wean off breastfeeding between four and nine months. Even if not weaning off, some mothers wish to start offering the bottle to allow another caretaker to feed the baby if they are away. Breastfeeding will always be optimal but bottle-feeding has its advantages also. Giving a bottle allows the caretaker to see how much formula or breast milk has been taken.

Some babies will transition easily but that is not the case for everyone. Babies may reject the taste or feel of the nipple. Having another person give the bottle may help this situation.
