Coming from a family of several teachers, it is not surprising to me that I ended up specializing in Pediatrics. I too, fell in love with working with kids! One of the things I love most about my job is providing education and guidance during each new and exciting stage of a child’s life. As a pediatrician, I have the opportunity to educate my patients to lead healthier lives – both physically and emotionally – and build relationships with them.

After earning my medical degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, my husband I ventured out to the great state of Texas for my residency training at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. This was a very busy, high volume residency program, and I feel fortunate to have had the experience of caring for so many children with such a wide variety of medical conditions. During my training, I realized that when I cared for children in the hospital, I would often feel disappointed that I would not be able to follow up with them again as an outpatient to see how they were doing. This is one of the reasons I knew I was meant to be a general pediatrician!

During the few years that we have lived in the DFW area, my husband and I have fallen in love with the state of Texas and have decided to build our lives here. My husband, Chris, is my high school sweetheart, and we have been married since 2007. He has been incredibly supportive during our journey through medical school and residency, and I don’t know how I could have done it without him! We first became parents in the Spring of 2016 and now have two boys, Luke and Cole. We also have two very energetic and loving yellow Labrador Retrievers, Ripken and Brooks.

Our friends and family are incredibly important to us, and we love spending our free time with them. My parents live in the DFW area, and my brother and his family live in South Texas. We try to get together with them as often as possible. I grew up surrounded by many great cooks, so I really enjoy both cooking at home and experiencing new restaurants.

While growing up, I spent much of my time participating in competition cheerleading, gymnastics, and all different types of dance classes. I still remain active and enjoy jogging or taking pilates, yoga, or barre classes. My husband is an avid golfer and played Division I golf in college, so I am lucky to have my very own skilled personal golf coach. Unfortunately, my golf game still has a very long way to go, so for now I will just keep playing at Top Golf!

I joined the team here at Kid’s First in 2014, after completing my pediatrics residency. Some of my particular medical interests include asthma and mental health (including anxiety, depression, and childhood bullying). I truly love my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
