The Jefferson Independence Card

Kids First Pediatrics has recently undertaken a partnership with the Jefferson Independence Card to help provide affordable health care.

For years we have offered a prompt pay discount to families paying on the date of service. This new partnership replaces our prompt pay discount starting October 1st. It allows us to expand our efforts to provide care for those without medical insurance.

Enrolling in the Jefferson icard allows you to pay the same discounted prices that the insurance companies have negotiated.

Furthermore, the Jefferson website http://jeffersonicard.com demonstrates transparency in pricing, you can see the prices for the examination and various tests ordered. The Jefferson icard is being offered by a number of primary care doctors in our area. The website lists participating providers. Specialists are starting to show interest. We all share a common goal of wanting to help those that do not have insurance. We are actively working with imaging centers, therapists and pharmacies to arrange for discounted services for Jefferson members.

Please take an opportunity to review the website and see if this plan may be helpful to you. You may register on line. There is no fee for joining. While Washington continues to work toward a fix for healthcare, we would like to think we are making a contribution toward our community now.

Can I use this if I have insurance?

Answer: The Jefferson icard was designed to help those that have no insurance. We recognize that more people are being forced to move to plans with higher deductibles. We are hopeful that we can eventually offer the same or similar service to those families in this situation.

Is the Jefferson iCard an insurance?

Answer: No, the card gives you the advantage of the same rates on some services (such as office visits and labs) that the insurance companies negotiate for. Importantly, it does not apply toward all specialists or toward any hospitalizations.higher deductibles. We are hopeful that we can eventually offer the same or similar service to those families in this situation.

Do all local doctors participate?

Answer: No, not all doctors have been informed of this service. The Jefferson Group is trying to reach as many local doctors as possible. Feel free to share the website, Jeffersonicard.com, with your favorite doctors.

Do all doctors have to honor all prices on the Jefferson website?

Answer: The prices are a suggestion to the doctors for uniformity. Please confirm that your doctor is using this suggested list prior to receiving services so that you have a clear expectation of pricing.

Payments / Insurance...

Payment at the time of your visit is appreciated. We accept cash, checks and major credit cards. We will then supply you with a bill that can be filed with your insurance company for reimbursement. No Show Policy... Kids First Pediatrics will make every effort to remind you of your appointment. Please update your home, work and cell phone numbers along with your email address each time you visit. You can also update your information through our website once you have established an account.

Kids First Pediatrics is responsible for providing timely care for many children with serious and possibly urgent problems. Failing to notify us that you will not make your appointment affects our ability to schedule properly and provide care for our patients.

There is a $30.00 no show/late-cancellation fee. All appointments must be cancelled the day prior to your appointment. Rescheduling must take place 1 1/2 hour before your appointment time.You may cancel by leaving a message or in response to an automated phone call reminding you of your appointment. Insurance will not cover charges for no show/late-cancellation fees.
