“Dynamic features in fetal and postnatal zinc-copper metabolic cycles predict the emergence of autistic spectrum disorder”

The title sounds daunting.  “Dynamic features in fetal and postnatal zinc-copper metabolic cycles predict the emergence of autistic spectrum disorder”

What does that mean, anyway?  Researchers in Sweden have been studying the teeth of twins. They are looking at the uptake of some metals in the teeth before and after birth. By examining this information, they were able to accurately predict who would be later diagnosed with autism.  Three studies replicated the findings. These were done in the United Kingdom and … Texas.  The Texas project was called “Autism Tooth Fairy Project”!  They were accurate between 90 -100%.

We are getting closer….we are seeing more studies done on the genetics and the underlying differences that help us understand autism better.  One thing remains true.   There is still no evidence of a link to any vaccine.

The study was in Science Advances published May 2018. Vol 4. No 5.
